Wednesday the 20th of July 2022 combined our yearly exercise with radio activity as we ascended the dizzying heights to the War Memorial at Tandle Hill Country Park.
Despite a very hot and humid start to the week and, indeed, Wednesday morning, it had become quite overcast with the threat of rain by the time we go there. Despite this, the views were wonderful as always.
Chris - M0LXG brought along a donated colinear to check it’s functionality and to confirm it was designed for 2m and 70cm. Pete - 2E0PGX had a quick QSO using this later on in the evening.
As always, a bench is a very good place to congregate, making a good seat, table, and place to mount poles! Left to right: Ashley - M0IXW, Pete 2E0PGX, Pete - M7PBM, Phil - M0KPH
Even the simplest of orpf portable setups, apart from just a handheld, does need a fair amount of kit. Despite the weather not being the sunniest there were quite a few people passing by and many showing an interest and coming over for a chat.
Alas, the bands were quite quiet. No luck calling CQ on 4m and 2m, a quick QSO on 70cm, and a couple on 40m.
